Passive Voice and Pop Quiz..!!

Tuesday,28/2/2012
Today class,we were learning about Passive Voice that was delivered by Megat,Sue,Niena and Nabilah.
What is Passive Voice?
Passive voice is used when the emphasis is more on the object of a sentence rather than the doer.
The differences between active voice and passive voice:

  • Syazwan kicked the ball into the lake (active voice)
  • The ball was kicked into the lake by Syazwan (passive voice)
Syazwan=Subject  The ball=Object  Kicked=Action

Active voice: subject + action + object
Passive voice: object + auxiliary verb + action + by + subject

Simple Past Tense:
Used to describe situations, activities or actions which happened and ended in the past. Most verbs end with either ‘-d’, ‘-ed’ or ‘-ied’ (saved, washed, tried) but irregular verbs either do not change forms (put, spread) or have different forms altogether (spoke, swept). We can used it:-

Beware Of HOOKS..!

Tuesday,14/2/2012

HAHA,finally all the tests are done! Lets focus to final examination. Today,Ms Zu taught us how to write introduction for essay in final examination. In final exam,we need to write an essay of 350-400 words. So Ms Zu conducted us to make an incredible introduction for our essay. For introduction, there are 3 sections of introduction, which are the hooks, the transtition and the thesis.

The Hook-use to attract reader to read more. There are 7 hooks:

  • Personal example
  • Quotations
  • Facts/statistic
  • Rhetorical questions
  • Current issues/events
  • Contrast to the thesis statement
  • Definition

The Transtitions-use to move reader's attention from hook to the thesis of the essay.
The Thesis-the purpose of the essay.

It quite hard actually to write the introduction. Our introduction of essay must be interestint to grab reader's attention to read more. But I will try my best in Final exam.. Hopefully..;)

Listen it again,again and again..

Thursday.02/2/2012

Ms Zu is conducting a listening test practice again. I hope I can get high marks on it. After checking the answers,I get 13 over 15 marks. Its not bad right. Izuwan also get 13 marks. Hahaha, and after that Nabilah's group want to present about adverbs and subject verb agreement.

Adverb is the words that  describe and modify verbs in terms of such qualities as time, frequency and manner. For example: Finaz shouts loud, loud describes how or the manner in which Finaz shout.  In the sentence,Finaz shouts very loud. Word very describes the adverb loud and gives information about how loud Finaz shout.

For subject verb agreement, both of them must be singular or plural. For examples, Syafiq likes to eat fries(He likes=singular). Syafiq and Syafiqah like to eat fries(They like=plural).
You can learn more about subject verb agreement at the these websites. I like it because it explain briefly and I bet you will more understand about it.
